[www.inewsguyana.com] – A man in police custody on Sunday, July 27 confessed to the robbery and murder of businessman Farouk Chanie Hamid, who was stabbed to death in his Nandy Park, East Bank Demerara premises last April.
A Handyman told the police that he and two others clubbed and stabbed the 56-year-old owner of Hamson’s General Store. iNews understands that Mr. Hamid’s handyman, Floyd Anthony Rammit, was recently captured at an interior location to which he had fled.
The suspect revealed that robbery was the motive behind the murder and that he and two accomplices concealed themselves in Hamid’s yard while waiting for him to arrive home before committing the gruesome murder.
His lifeless body was discovered on April 16 by his reputed wife, who realised that something was wrong after he failed to arrive at her Eccles, East Bank Demerara residence to pick up the couple’s daughter.
After repeatedly failing to reach him by phone, the woman and an employee went to Hamid’s Nandy Park residence, where they found his body at the back of his home. The father of five was lying next to the kennel where he kept his German Shepherd.
