[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 23 – year – old labourer from GUYTRAC was remanded to prison for the offense of robbery with aggravation.
Chavez Alves of West Ruimveldt, Georgetown, was not required to plead to the charge, which alleged that on Friday, December 27 at Kingston, Georgetown, in the company of others, he robbed Hoosay Mackenzie of two cellular phones and $6,000 cash, together valued $26,000 and at the time during or after the offence, he made use of personal violence against the victim.
Police Prosecutor, Seon Blackman told the Court that on the day in question at the Kingston Seawall, the accused in the company of two others, relieved the virtual complainant (VC) of the articles.
The Court was informed that the other two accused persons already appeared before the Court and was remanded. Magistrate Faith McGusty was further told that the cash was found on Alves and he was positively identified by the virtual complainant.
Bail was denied and Alves will reappear in Court on January 7, 2014.
