[www.inewsguyana.com] – Following a countrywide strike by sugar workers on December 11, the Guyana Sugar Corporation has finally agreed to pay the Annual Production Incentive (API), totaling $380 million.
This decision was taken during a meeting with the Guyana Agricultural and General Workers Union (GAWU) and Guysuco on Friday, December 13. iNews understands that the payout will be made in two phases as a result of the Sugar Company’s financial constraints.
Guysuco had initially signaled its intention not to pay the API this year because of its production which fell short of meeting its target.
