[www.inewsguyana.com] – The second leg of the Inter Guiana Games (IGG) held at the weekend, proved to be a success for the Guyanese contingent that travelled to Suriname.
The male volleyball team for the first time since 2008 won the volleyball title which was a welcoming sight despite the females not having a similar success.
The male cycling team was also in great form winning the time trials as well as sweeping the road race on the final day of the event on Sunday.
While the females were not as successful, they displayed great potential in coming years.
However, the chess and badminton teams were unsuccessful and finished behind both Suriname and French Guiana in the standings for those events.
While it can be looked at as more losses than wins, the team’s chemistry and spirit among the players as well as the wins by the cycling and volleyball teams along with the potential of the other sport disciplines was the high point of the weekend’s activity.
