The Guyanese man who was yesterday caught with a quantity of cannabis in his possession by law enforcement officials at the Ogle International Airport, East Coast Demerara, is expected to appear at the Sparendaam Court tomorrow.
INews understands that the man was headed on a flight destined for Barbados when he was nabbed by ranks of the Police Narcotics Unit.
According to information received, on Sunday about 13:50h, CANU ranks on duty at the Ogle Airport conducted a search on an outgoing passenger and during this exercise, 17.572 kilograms of cannabis sativa was found in his luggage. He was arrested, and an investigation was launched.
Over the years, several persons have been arrested attempting to smuggle narcotics through the country’s ports.
