A 58-year-old Guyanese born woman who resided in London, England, was killed this morning when the taxi she was travelling in to the Eugene F. Correia International Airport at Ogle, East Coast Demerara slammed into a parked truck in Mahaica.
Reports are that she was on vacation in Guyana and was on her way to check-in at the airport for her flight back home when the tragic incident took place around 05:30hrs this morning.
INews was told that the now dead woman and her daughter had left their Berbice residence in the taxi earlier this morning. They, along with the driver, were the only occupants of the hire car.
This online publication was reliably informed that the now woman was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. Meanwhile her daughter who also suffered injuries has been admitted to the city hospital and the driver of the taxi is presently in police custody assisting with investigations.
