[www.inewsguyana.com] – Guyana has secured again the regional award for top performance at the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examinations, thanks to Elisa Hamilton, who also topped the country.
A press release from the Ministry of Education said that Hamilton, of Queen’s College (QC) won the award for Most Outstanding Candidate in the region. Hamilton gained 19 Grade Ones and 1 Grade Two at this year’s sitting of the examination.
Aliyyah Abdul Kadir and Ryhan Chand, also of QC, took top regional awards for Most Outstanding in Humanities and Most Outstanding in Business Studies respectively.
Kishan Crichlow of the New Amsterdam Multilateral School was awarded the Most Outstanding Student in Technical Vocational studies.
In recognition of their achievements, CXC will present these students with awards at a ceremony to be held at the UWI Regional Headquarters, Mona Campus, Jamaica on December 4.
Last year Guyana won five of the eight awards offered.
