[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Guyana Police Force released statistics on Thursday (January 16) which show that Guyana recorded a total of 111 suicides countrywide in 2013.
The stats were released in refute to a publication in the Guyana Times under the caption “Suicide claimed 82 lives on Essequibo Coast in 2013”, in which it was stated that the statistics were in keeping with records at the Suddie Hospital.
Police say of the 111 suicides they recorded, 9 occurred in Essequibo while 36 occurred in Region Six. The figures in the other Police Divisions were “A” Division 20, “B” Division 36, “C” Division 20, “D” Division 12, “E” Division 1, “F” Division 13.
