The Guyanese had no rhythm in the first half and fell behind early as Trinidad and Tobago led 12-0 at halftime.
However, in the second half Guyana showed the grit and determination that has made them one of the most feared Caribbean teams to play their way back into the game only to fall short by two points as the game ended 22-20.
Guyana’s Kevin McKenzie had two tries in the 42nd and 78th minutes while Avery Corbin had one try in the 64th minute. Richard Staglon also had a try in the 72nd minute.
