Guyana’s national men’s football team, the Golden Jaguars, made good on their promise to return home with a win in their second game of the Concacaf Nation’s League.

With the mindset that their team needed a win in order to keep their Concacaf Gold Cup dreams alive, the Golden Jaguars entered the TCIFA National Academy Providenciales with heightened confidence.

The fast paced match up saw Guyana finding the back of the net as early as the seventh minute off the boots of Caledonia AIA forward Sheldon Holder. Next to join the score sheet was Emery Welshman in the 20th. The next two goals in the 37th and 45th rounded off Holder’s impressive hat trick as Guyana moved to 5-0 at the end of the first half.

Already holding a commanding lead, the Guyanese boys were not weary yet as they continued their attacking plays to further dismantle the home team.

Minutes into the second, Welshman returned for his second goal and was soon followed by Daniel Cadel, taking the Jaguars’ tally to 7. Welshman later completed his hat-trick in the 81st with an on target penalty.

This win will boost the team’s confidence after their 2-2 draw with Barbados in the first game of Concacaf Nation’s league. Guyana will meet French Guiana for their next encounter in Cayenne.
