[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Guyana Floodlights Softball Cricket Association has teamed up with the ministry of Culture Youth and Sport to host their Softball World Cup.
The tournament will include teams from Canada, New York, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Guyana and for the first time Trinidad and Orlando, all of which have already indicated their availability.
The tournament will be held on October 31 and November 1 – 2, with the members expected to begin their preparations shortly.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Sport has committed to send two officials to every meeting leading up to the tournament in an effort to make the three days International Softball Tournament a National event.
According to the Association, the preliminary rounds will be played on Friday October 31 and Saturday November 1 at Bourda, Police ground, DCC, MYO, YMCA, Saint Stanislaus, Ministry of Education ground all being confirmed venues.
The finals will be played on Sunday November 2, at a venue yet to be decided.
According to Dr Anthony, the ministry’s ground at Carifesta Avenue, which has the potential to hold three matches simultaneously, will be in “Tip Top” condition for the event.
Local teams in Guyana that want to participate in “Guyana Softball Cup 4” are advised to book their spot early since only a limited number of teams will be accepted.
