[www.inewsguyana.com] – Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Ramnaresh Sarwan are among the senior members of a Guyana Team that landed in Jamaica on Tuesday afternoon to mark the first round of the Regional Four Day which begins on Friday.
Other West Indies players include Narsingh Deonarine, Assad Fudadin, Christopher Barnwell, Versammy Permaul, Devendra Bishoo and Sewnarine Chattergoon, putting the icing on a well defined Guyana team.
Anthony Bramble, Amir Khan, Ronsford Beaton, Keon Joseph and Vishal Singh are the other team members who departed these shores early Tuesday morning as part of the Esuan Crandon coached unit.
It will be managed by Alvin Johnson. “Jamaica at home is possibly one of the toughest tasks of the tournament,” stand in captain Chanderpaul was quoted as saying on the WICB Website.
“We know that playing Jamaica at Sabina Park will be a tough assignment, but we have one of the strongest squads in the tournament on paper and we are hoping to transfer that unto the field come Friday.”
Meanwhile, a source close to the Guyana Cricket Board Confirmed that named skipper Leon Johnson has a sprain in his knee and will miss at most the first and second round clashes.
While the injury is not serious, the board is not willing to take the chance and risk the all rounder. Friday’s match begins at 10:00.
