A man has been taken into custody for breaches of the Dangerous Drug Act, after 12 pounds of ganja was found in his luggage at the Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA) in Kingston.
According to the Jamaica Observer, the man has been identified as Sean Matthews of Arnold Road in Kingston.
Reports from the Narcotics Police are that Matthews was about to board a flight for Guyana when he was interviewed by lawmen, his luggage searched, and the illicit drug found.
The Police say the drug has an estimated street value of $66,000 million (Jamaican currency).
Matthews is scheduled to appear before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on September 2, where he will answer to charges of possession of ganja, dealing in ganja, taking preparatory steps to export ganja, and conspiracy to export ganja.
