[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Guyana Fire Service this morning (October 12) successfully averted a threat posed to the Stewartville Primary School, West Coast Demerara by fire.
This comes a day after the Service came under heavy criticism for the way it handled the fire that destroyed a storage bond belonging to Beepats – a leading distributor in Guyana – and a nearby house at Ogle, East Coast Demerara.
According to the Fire Service, the blaze was electrical in nature and did not damage the building. One resident related that the fire started in the guard hut situated a few feet from the building. Due to the quick response of firefighters the blaze was contained to the guard hut.
