[www.inewsguyana.com] – The employment status for public servants who were on the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) list of candidates for the 2015 elections and are currently at the Office of the Presidency and other state agencies’ will be reviewed under the APNU+AFC administration.
The question was posed to President David Granger about the future of these officials under his administration and he explained that even though a appraising will be done, he has no intention of punishing public servants.
“We will examine their cases on a one by one basis, case by case basis; we are not after witch hunt, and persons who feel that they cannot serve this administration will be allowed to leave,” the President said.
When pressed further about a member of his present staff who was on the campaign trail with the PPP, even hours before his swearing in, the President did not seem too bothered and reiterated that he is not on a ‘witch hunt’.
He also noted that he is unaware if indeed that person had resigned, even though he was on the campaign trail as a public servant.
The President was also quizzed about his intention to guarantee the confidentiality of certain information and documents at his office which could be leaked to the opposing party, to which he explained “we have ways and means.”
On his first working day, the President said public servants who resigned during the reign of the previous administration to hit the campaign trail were informed that their resignations have been accepted by his Administration.
In the past, officials within the public service including Permanent Secretaries have resigned to take part in political campaigns and would return to their post after the Party in government retain their office.
iNews was informed of only one Permanent Secretary who had tendered his resignation during the month of April, but made a withdrawal sometime last week. His withdrawal was accepted by Donald Ramotar who was President at the time.
Time will tell and will cure all bugs and viruses in the system.
Granger should know that all political hacks need to be shown the door. That is practicality and common sense not witch hunting. If he wants to be a nice guy he is going to be sorry. Freedom house will know a lot of things before he does because these people will be reporting there. They will also have scope to obstruct, delay, undermine and sabotage in ways that are not highly visible. Efforts need to be started to remove Winston Brassington, Shaikh Baksh, Mahender Sharma, Clifton Hicken and Bharrat Dindyal as soon as a handing over process can be arranged.I notice that Hydar Ally is still there also. Even if some of them are not on a candidates list don’t underestimate the deeds they have done and continue to do, and their willingness to appease even middle to low level PPP operatives to the detriment of their organizations. Even if they have displayed a high level of competence, which they have not, they should still go. They are dangerous to have around I saw a photo of the Ali-Hack woman at Granger’s recent briefing, looking like little miss muffet. She needs to go because of her past evil deeds. The same goes for Sita Ramlall who is also not experienced enough to be Solicitor-General.
Public servants should not be penalized for their political affiliations. As long as their job is well done, their life after office is their own to do what they want. Get real!
While i agree with the President i would use the words of Prof Freddie there is a dfference between witch hunt and justice. These current batch of high ranking public servants under the ppp who are on the job are not worth carrying for very obvious reasons.
In SUGAR Raj Singh did not resigned as required and as such should be now asked to resigned or fired but not before the audit is done.
Lets take sugar Raj Singh is a power unto himself and a forensic audit and a commission of inquirys hould be held almost immediately. The govt may be surprised at what they find.
Look at how many credible managers he forced out of the industry just because they are not yes men and were not members of the PPP.
Pandit Vishnu, Rampertabh, Dookiya, Bahadur. I remembered clearly Bahadur from Albion and EDE bright young man never a yes man they make it look like he was the problem of EDE. I met him at the airport RORAIMA lounge two days after the elections and he was so optimistic abt a future in Guyana and after 23 years and two grown kids he has to venture as an outsider to earn. I am told he is a highly qualified sugar technologist with two or three higher degrees. These are men who put Guyana first without political affiliation and chased like dogs out of their own country.Mr President you have to make these things right.
Look at the Guyoil CEO Badri did he resigned for the campaign trail? Mr President these ppl who were required to resigned and did not violated the rules and justice must be done.
what nonsense is this. guyanese voted for change not the continuation of the un-professionalism and bastardisation of the public service. No country can develop without a well functioning public administration system yet you have a political mendicant as a PS of the same public service who was openly political and on the campaign still in his post. This is either naive or opportunistic none of which the guyanese voter voted for, Shame.
What kind of Lawlessness is this? the only person who usually resigns his/her job is the one running for Office. If you resign your job to campaign on behalf of another person, it simply means, you made the choice to leave, and that position is no longer yours. Unbelievable the level of STUPIDITY that these people have expressed, they deserve to lose their jobs.
People, what ever happened in the past, leave it there. Don’t dig up those old matters. This is a new time, with a new-age people, with a new administration and new generation. Let the president get along with his job. There is a country to run. A new generation of beautiful, innocent, Guyanese of all races is waiting to be guided, counseled and educated to be Guyanese first and to be whom you want to be or chose to be, after. Unity in Diversity, with your chosen identity and dignity intact. One People, One Nation , One Destiny. Peace, fellow Guyanese.
Shut your mouth fool stop living in the past what has racism done for you all the ppp want is devide and rule keep some of u in ignorance so they can control u r we better off as a people no knowledge is power educate yourself and get out of the gutter let love rain in your heart be a better person learn to stayaway from war and strife.
Did the ppp care for the rest of the guyanese. No they didn’t. Only the Indians
Definitely. Is all over they take over and still they always complaining. Remember now Green Giant we have to read what they want us to read and know. All that happens behind closed doors don’t ever be exposed to the general public. Soon the man working on a garbage truck will be paid a salary that’s more than a qualified office staff.
he granger cant punish –public servants—-he know he will see things on the streets of guyana he will not be able to stomach…all this is just talk for talks sakes…90% of public servants vote pnc….why u think all pnc opposition rulers alwas hounding ppp when they were government for big wage increase for public servants..pnc didnt care about the rest of guyanese but were always facinated with public servants—police- army mostly..
