Grand Coastal Hotel, a boutique hotel that offers a unique service experience in Guyana’s hospitality industry, was awarded Hotel of the Year at this year’s Tourism and Hospitality Association of Guyana (THAG) President’s Awards.
The award was presented by the President of THAG, Andrea De Caires, at the 25th Anniversary & Annual President’s Awards Ceremony & Reception held at the Marriot Hotel recently.
The Ceremony brings together hotels, resorts, eco-lodges, tour operators and logistic tourism companies from across Guyana to honour key players in Guyana’s hospitality and tourism market.
The Hotel of the Year award gives prestigious recognition to the high-quality service offered by Grand Coastal, a 43-room boutique hotel located on the East Coast of Demerara.
Since its launch in September 2001, Grand Coastal has been providing generous amenities to both foreign guests and the diaspora for leisure and business travel, and has also developed a niche in the local industry for international quality dining.
Commenting on the accolade, Deputy Chief Executive Officer (DCEO), Kevin Daby said, “To receive this accolade from our peers in the industry, THAG, is very rewarding. We are thrilled to be recognized for the level of service we painstakingly strive towards each and every day.”

Our hotel started as a 19 bedroom inn and has expanded to a 43 bedroom hotel. We currently serve over 200 clients on both local and international level and employ 64 people in the Greater Georgetown area. We have won the American travel website, TripAdvisor Certificate for Excellence 3 years in succession and we just added the “Hotel of the Year” award to our portfolio.”
