[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Director of Financial Services and an Accounts Clerk of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) have been sent on administrative leave as investigations continue in the disappearance of funds from the hospital.
iNews understands that the Board of the Hospital made the decision to the send the duo on leave on October 24. The police along with the Auditor General’s Office are investigating the disappearance of approximately $3 million from the institution.
It was reported that the fraud involves a female cashier attached to the finance department of the institution. iNews was reliably informed that the woman was in police custody.
It is still unclear to iNews how the discovery was made. However, the Corporation has promised to make public more information as it becomes available.
