[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Director of Public Prosecutions has advised the police to institute a charge of rape against the son of a government official following allegations that he sexually assaulted a 14 year old girl.
According to a release from the Guyana Police Force, 24 year old Vishnu Singh would be facing a charge of rape when his matter is called up in the Sparendaam Magistrates Court.
Police said that Singh of Better Hope, East Coast Demerara, has been charged with rape allegedly committed on a 14 -year- old student on the East Coast of Demerara. The matter would be set to be heard before Magistrate Zameena Ali.
The alleged victim has told police that the 24-year-old man sexually assaulted her on January 27, last, after persuading her to enter his vehicle under the guise of taking her to her home.
According to the teen, the suspect had promised to provide sponsorshipto her for an upcoming beauty pageant that she was scheduled to compete in.
Human Services Minister Jennifer Webster had reportedly urged that the Police Force place special attention to the matter.
