Pre-loaded tablets were on Tuesday given to 49 pupils of the St. Cuthbert’s Nursery School.
Both year one and year two pupils received tablets that have been loaded with appropriate content approved by the Ministry of Education.
A laptop and mp3 player were also given to the St. Cuthbert’s Nursery, Primary and Secondary schools to assist teachers in completing their work and to enhance learning when schools eventually reopen.
These items were provided by the Government of Guyana and were distributed by the Department of Education – Region Four.
Today, Officers from the Department are conducting a similar exercise at Moblissa.
Last week, Regional Education Officer for Region Four, Ms. Tiffany Harvey had stated that a total of 134 tablets will be distributed to nursery-aged children and 145 tablets to grades four and five students along the Soesdyke-Linden Highway and in Hope Estate on the East Coast of Demerara. She said that the Department of Education is currently focusing on remote and riverine communities in the region.
This exercise will continue during the remainder of this week.
