A 20-year-old man is now out of harm’s way at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) after sustaining a gunshot wound to the left side of his face on Saturday evening as he attempted to prevent bandits from descending upon his Good Hope, East Coast Demerara home.
The injured man has been identified as Anzan Ledoux.
Based on information received, Ledoux and his family were gathered in front of their home on Saturday evening.
The young man reportedly observed a motorcycle with two men passing the home a few times and as such, became suspicious and requested that his extended family members return into the yard.
Just as the last set of family members made it into the yard, the young man noted that the motorcycle stopped in front of the home, and the pillion rider disembarked and began to approach the gate with a gun.
As such, Ledoux immediately ran into the yard and locked the gate behind him. However, the alleged bandit, realizing that his plan had been foiled, fired one round at the young man. The bullet reportedly grazed his cheek and hit his left ear.
He was rushed to the GPHC for medical attention.
Investigations are ongoing.
