[www.inewsguyana.com] – Administrative Secretary of the Guyana Olympic Association (GOA), Shanomae Blackmore passed away early Tuesday morning (March 17) after a brief period of illness.
The loss of Blackmore, 34, came as a shock to the sports fraternity in Guyana and has left a big shoe for the GOA to fill. Blackmore is the daughter of former President of the Athletics Association of Guyana, Claude Blackmore.
In addition, an outbreak of warm wishes and disbelief rocked social media in the sports fraternity at the news of highly exuberant and effect GOA official’s demise spread.
Blackmore will be remembered for her warm smile and positive attitude at any possible time when dealing with athletes, national teams or other administrators themselves.
At last year’s GOA awards, Blackmore was awarded for her outstanding contribution to sport. President of the GOA Juman Yassin expressed his sadness of Blackmore’s passing and sympathized with the former president of the GOA.
