[www.inewsguyana.com]- The Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) has sponsored boxing coach Sebert Blake for a coaching course in Cuba that will allow him the opportunity to become a three star coach.
At the simple handing over ceremony on Friday, president of the GOA KA Juman Yassin was pleased to support the sport once again.
“I think it’s only fitting we continue his development so he can do us well,” Yassin stated at the handing over ceremony.
President of the Guyana Boxing Association Steve Ninvalle was particularly grateful for the continued efforts by the GOA to support boxing.
“Extremely pleasing to have the GOA on board with us again.
The GOA has been a major factor in the development of amateur boxing and I think that Yassin has a soft spot for the sport in his heart.
“In the region there is only six three star coaches and once Blake returns successful Guyana will have two of them,” Ninvalle confidently stated.
Blake who thanked the GOA also shared his dream as a coach, “I want to use the opportunity to thank the GOA and I will go there to learn as much as possible so that I can come back and share it with the coaches and the boxers.
“My dream is to one day be able to coach and produce an Olympian medalist and hopefully 2016 will be that time,” Blake highlighted.
Blake will be leaving for Cuba next week to participate in the course.
