[www.inewsguyana.com] – General Manager of the El Dorado Trading, 29 – year – old Neville Chandrawattie of Sparta, Essequibo Coast was on Tuesday (December 24) slapped with a murder charge before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
The accused was not required to plead to the indictable charge which detailed that on April 21 at Port Kaituma, North West District he murdered Dharamchand Mangra.
Police Prosecutor Bharat Mangru told the Court that Chandrawattie was employed by Tamesh Jagmohan in Port Kaituma. He added that the accused along with others on that day planned a robbery and during the course of that robbery, Mangra was shot and killed.
They made their good escape and two persons were charged for that robbery.
Mangru further stated that on November 8, the said business place encountered another robbery and during investigation of the present offence, Neville was questioned and admitted that he planned the robbery of 2007.
He added that legal advised was sought which resulted in the accused facing the present charge.
The matter was transferred to Matthews Ridge Magistrate;s court February3.
