[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Guyana Public Service Union (GPSU) Branch Members of the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC) today, Friday November 22 expressed their objections during a protest to the recent announcement by government indicating a 5-percent hike in public servants wages.
The GPSU Branch Members during their official lunch break, in front of the GGMC Compound on Brickdam, voiced their objections concerning the recent announcement by Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr. Roget Luncheon that government has approved a 5-percent salary increase for public servants.
The protest by the GPSU’s branch members from the GGMC was simultaneous with the recent press conference hosted by APNU where Mr. David Granger, Opposition Leader labeled the government increases as worthless.
Additionally, the protest action by staff of the GGMC was in sync with the calls by GPSU and APNU for a 25-percent salary increase.
