Daniel Fraser, a 26-year-old Lance Corporal of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) and his girlfriend, 23-year-old Shanicka Forde were last evening killed execution style at Sophia, Greater Georgetown.
Forde resides in Barbados but was staying with a friend at Sophia for the past three months. The couple had only been together for two weeks.
Last evening, the duo were consuming alcohol at a nearby shop when at around 23:00hrs, they left to go home on a motorcycle owned by the GDF rank.
As they were heading west along last street ‘B’ Field Sophia, they were confronted by an unknown male who approached them from a northern direction on a bicycle.
The suspect then discharged six rounds at the couple, causing them to fall on the ground.
The suspect then rode away in a western direction and made good his escape.
Fraser and Forde were picked up by Fraser’s brother and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation in a taxi where they were pronounced dead on arrival.
Fraser received one gunshot wound to his chest while Forde received three shots – one to the chest, one to her right knee and one to the right side abdomen.
Investigations are ongoing.
