A Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Lance Corporal has been arrested for the alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl.
The incident occurred in Region One (Barima-Waini) some time between September 2020 to now.
Police said a preliminary investigation into the matter revealed that the victim and suspect shared a relationship for about one year.
However, on September 14, 2021, the matter was reported to the police and the suspect was arrested.
Investigations are ongoing.
