Three former Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Coast Guardsmen were yesterday, Tuesday July 2 found guilty of murdering Dweive Kant Ramdass and dumping his body overboard after robbing him of millions of dollars.
The 12-member jury returned a unanimous verdict of guilty against Sherwyn Hart, Deon Greenidge and Devon Gordon.
They were sentenced to death by hanging by Justice Franklyn Holders. The offence was committed between August 20 and 22, 2009 at Caiman Hole, East Bank Essequibo.
The men had robbed Ramdass of $17M, which he was carrying in a box to Bartica.
After ordering him to board a GDF watercraft, they killed him took the money and returned to Parika where the cash was divided up and given to other persons.
A police road block had later intercepted them with the cash.
