[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) wants to adopt the Chaguanas business model to attract and boost business in the Guyana.
So said Lance Hinds, President of the Chamber, when he met with a delegation from Trinidad and Tobago recently. Chaguanas Mayor Gopaul Boodhan, Vijay Ramlal Rai, Head of the National Chutney Foundation of T&T and Surujdeo Mangaroo, PRO of the National Council of Indian Culture (NCIC), met with Hinds in Georgetown last week to discuss hosting World Chutney Soca Monarch (WCSM) on August 2 at the Guyana National Stadium.
Hinds said he was pleased to learn that Chaguanas had grown from a small town and is now one of T&T’s largest retail hubs.
He said the WCSM will be a big event that would attract a lot of potential investors and provide an ideal tourism opportunity for Guyana. Christine Gooding, project lead-manager of the WCSM, said the event should attract more than 30,000 people, including foreigners.
