GBTI’s Anna Regina Branch on Friday celebrated 20 years of service to the people of Region Two, Pomeroon/Supenaam.
On July 13, 1998, the Bank opened its doors to the people of the Cinderella County and offered its financial help to the many struggling businesses especially the Regions main source of income, the rice industry.
The bank plays a key role in moving the region’s economy forward by financing the agricultural sector which is it’s backbone.
Many farmers benefited by way of loans and other services offered by the financial institution which enabled them to grow quickly, plant more lands and modernise the industry.
With a boost in rice production came new rice mills, better prices, new businesses, job creation and a stronger economy.
