Following an Identification Parade, police have identified Frederick Boyce of Melanie, East Coast Demerara as the armed bandit who shot and robbed B.M Soat Auto Dealer, Rameez Mohamed on October, 25, 2016.
Boyce was one of the three males who were apprehended yesterday after leading law enforcement officials on a high speed chase around Georgetown.
The trio, one of whom is an ex-officer of the Guyana Police Force, were arrested after ranks spent almost an hour chasing a suspicious car with fake registration plates.
Based on reports received, police ranks observed a heavily tinted motor car with suspected fake number plate and approached same. However, upon recognizing the police creeping up on them, the occupants of the motor car drove away and, in response, the police gave chase.
The driver of the motor car reportedly lost control of the vehicle at the corners of Lamaha and Republic Streets, Georgetown and ended up in a ditch.
The three men were identified as Eloy Livan, 28, of Lot 47 Richards Town, Lusignan, East Coast Demerara; Devon Chase, 30, of Hill Street Albouystown; and Frederick Boyce of Melanie, East Coast Demerara.
A 9mm pistol and 10 live rounds of ammunition were also found at the scene, and a ballistic test will be conducted.
