Four female inmates escape from NOC

Four female inmates of the New Opportunity Corps (NOC) are now on the run after they escaped from the correctional facility on Monday.

They were identified as Keyana Reid, 15, of Patrick Dam Angoy’s Avenue, Berbice, Kim Giddings, 16, of Squatting Area Linden, Tyra Edwards,15, of 3rd Avenue Bartica and Venus Edinboro, 17, of Pamela Backdam Mahdia.

Reid was charged for wandering and was sentenced to the NOC for two years. Giddings was charged with unlawful wounding and sentenced to one year. Tyra Edwards, was charged for wandering and sentenced to three years, while Edinboro was also charged with wandering and sentenced to three years.

Based on information received, the inmates were in the compound of their dormitory sitting with the main gate left open.

By this time, it started raining and the children were reportedly left unattended.

Checks were subsequently made and it was discovered that the children were missing. The police were summoned and a manhunt was launched for the four teenagers.

Investigations are ongoing.
