Four men, including a father of four children, were earlier today (Monday), arraigned when they appeared at the Leonora Magistrate Court charged for carrying out an armed robbery.
Jeremiah Lovell, 24 of 161 Lion’s Place, South Ruimveldt, Georgetown, Adrian Bailey,38 of 163 Parafait Harmonie, West Bank Demerara (WBD), Carlton Miller, 29 of 14 Benn Street, Georgetown and Timothy Sentil, 37 of 337 Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara (EBD) all made their appearance before Magistrate Rochelle Liverpool.
They all denied that on August 17 2017 at Parafait Harmonie, West Bank Demerara (WBD) and being armed with a gun, they robbed Zabeeda Hamid of two gold chains valued $145,000 and $300,ooo in cash.
Police Prosecutor Sherwin Matthews objected to bail being granted for the accused as they all pose flight risks.
He told the Court that one of the defendants and the Virtual Complainant (VC) reside in the same area and as such he might interfere with her.
However, Magistrate Liverpool granted bail to the defendants in the sum of $100,000. They are all required to report to the La Grange Police Station once per month until the completion of trial. They were also warned not to make any contact with the VC or bail will be revoked.
The matter was transferred to the Wales Magistrate Court and the defendants are scheduled to make their next Court appearance on September 7 2017.
