[www.inewsgyana.com] – Top local sprinter Alisha Fortune struck gold at the North, Central American and Caribbean World Masters Athletics Championships currently being held in Costa Rica.
Fortune clocked a speedy 56.32s in the women’s 25-39 400 metres to claim the gold medal on Friday; finishing ahead of Alejandra Cedeno of Venezuela who clocked 1:03.79s and Heidy Segura Gonzalez of Costa Rica who clocked 1:05.81s for third.
The versatile sprinter will also compete in the women’s 100 and 200 metres and is expected to run away with both events for a sprint triple crown.
Meanwhile, the newly formed Guyana Masters Athletics Associations will also be aiming to have Fortune compete in other master’s athletics meets in the near future.
