[www.inewsguyana.com] – Guyanese international midfielder Chris Nurse has been signed by the North American Soccer League’s Fort Lauderdale Strikers.
The Strikers made the announcement on Friday, March 14 for the 2014 campaign.
Strikers Head Coach Günter Kronsteiner said “Chris is an experienced player who has already won a championship in this league and is going to help us in many ways.”
The Head Coach adumbrated that “He’s a solid player and a leader both on the field and in the locker room.”
Nurse, a named captain of the Guyana National Team for the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification matches has 47 National Team caps with Guyana, scoring five goals.
He made his NASL debut in 2010 with the Puerto Rico Islanders and joined the Carolina Rail Hawks on loan in 2011/12 before returning to the Islanders later in 2012.
He spent the 2013 season with FC Edmonton, where he scored three goals during the season and was named North American Soccer League Player of the Month for the month of August.
Chris Nurse is the fifth new player to join the Strikers for 2014. The club has also re-signed 14 players from last season’s roster.
