[www.inewsguyana.com] – Former West Indian all rounder Joe Solomon is expected in the Maurice Solomon and Company Chartered Accountants Golf Tournament this Saturday.
The West Indian who also took up selection and coaching duties after concluding his playing career has joined the sport of golf like so many other former cricketers, Sir Vivian Richards and Brian Lara to name a few.
The right hand bat will join the likes of Alfred Mentore and others on the greens of the Lusignan Golf Club this weekend to battle it out.
According to Public Relations Officer of the club William Walker, the area has been seeing good conditions for the past month and that has resulted in golfers getting to play more and finding their form.
Tomorrow’s event is a 3/4 stableford which will award points for each hole depending on how well the golfer plays it.
Four attractive prizes are up for grabs as well as a nearest to the pin and a ladies best prize as well in an attempt to attract as much participation as possible.
Meanwhile, the sponsor, Maurice Solomon, has been a member of the club since the early 1970s said he had committed since last year to sponsor a tournament and hoped for a good turnout.
Tee off time is 12 pm.
