[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 27- year – old former Prison Officer now Taxi Driver pleaded guilty to a fraudulent conversion charge when he appeared before Magistrate Ann Mc Lennan in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court today (October 3).
The accused is Quacy Collins of Albouystown, Georgetown. According to the allegations, between June 1 through 30 2013, the accused who was entrusted with a quantity of clothing valued $366,000 belonging to Mercillin Mc Kay, fraudulently converted the items to his own use.
Police Prosecutor Dinero Jones told the court that the complainant is a businesswoman who was approached by the accused indicating his interest in selling clothing.
The prosecutor said that the items were given to the Collins who had two weeks to return with the money or the clothing. He never did. He was sentenced to 25 months imprisonment. [Royan Abrams]
