[www.inewsguyana.com] – Former General Secretary of the Alliance For Change (AFC) Sixtus Edwards tendered his resignation to the Party sometime last week.
This was confirmed by current General Secretary of the Party, David Patterson who told iNews on Thursday, February 12 that the Party received the resignation. Patterson said that according to the resignation letter received Edwards resigned for personal reasons.
It was noted that Edwards was thanked for his service to the AFC which helped build the Party to where it is presently. The Party said that the resignation came as a surprise but they nevertheless respect the decision taken by Edwards.
Edwards was a member of the AFC since it was formed in 2005 and reportedly played a key organizing role.He served as General Secretary to the AFC prior to Patterson’s appointment in 2012.
According to the AFC website, Edwards has a degree in Political Studies from Cuba in 1972.He also served as a member of the Guyana Defence Force.
