A 43-year-old football coach has been arrested and remains in police discovery following the discovery of an illegal firearm and ammunition in his possession.
Ranks from the Brickdam Police Station were on a mobile patrol in Sophia at around 10:45hrs today when the coach was stopped, searched, and subsequently detained after he was found to be in possession of the illegal items.
The suspect, who is from ‘B’ Field Sophia, was seen walking on a street in ‘C’ Field Sophia when he was stopped by the patrol ranks.
Whilst searching the suspect’s left side pants waist, a .32 Taurus Pistol with serial number filed off along with nine live .32 matching rounds were found. He was told of the allegation and cautioned.
He was arrested and taken to Turkeyen Police Station where the suspected firearm was processed for latent print by a rank from the Crime Scene Unit. The firearm and ammunition were then marked, sealed, and lodged in the suspect’s presence and placed in separate evidence bags and handed over to the Station Sergeant for safekeeping.
Investigations are ongoing.
