[www.inewsguyana.com] – Captain Paul Reece, Chairman and CEO of Fly Jamaica says the airline’s permit to land in New York expired on March 31.

He said the airline is now in the process of sorting out its landing rights issues, but assured that the airline is still flying to other locations.

In a statement to the media late Wednesday, Fly Jamaica said it “deeply regrets any inconvenience to its passengers” as it works to rectify a landing rights issue in New York.

“The company is currently in talks with the relevant authorities and is making every effort to resolve the situation,” the statement read. “We endeavour to keep our valued customers informed and assist in any way possible.”

The release also said that Fly Jamaica Airways is the only commercial jet airline with a Jamaican air operator’s certificate, and that both their b757 and b767 aircraft are serviceable at this time. [Jamaica Observer]
