[www.inewsguyana.com] – The University of Guyana (UG) was forced to solicit the help of the Guyana Fire Service to contain a bush fire at the Turkeyen Campus.
According to Public Relations Officer Paulette Paul, the fire started in the field located on the northern end of the Campus just after mid-day and began to spread uncontrollably.
She confirmed however that firefighters were on the ground and was making progress in containing the blaze. Paul could not say the origin of the fire.
One student told iNews, “I don’t know how it started, I just saw two small fire and then it began to increase in size.”
