As the Caribbean Airlines flight took off the runway of the Cheddi Jagan International Airport [CJIA] this morning [Wednesday July 3] enroute to Port of Spain, a wheel well fire alarm indicator came on in the cockpit.
The incident occurred around 10:52h, and iNews understand that the aircraft crew declared an emergency and turned back to the CJIA.
According to information received, on its way back to Guyana, the alarm extinguished and did not come on again for the remainder of the flight.
The aircraft landed safely at CJIA, with two Aerodrome Fire Service crash tenders on standby and initial examination of the aircraft by engineers showed no signs of fire.
