[www.inewsguyana.com] – A fire of so far unknown origin has destroyed the lubricating oil storage bond of the Guyoil Gas Station at Providence, East Bank Demerara on Monday evening, August 31.
Fire Chief, Marlon Gentle told reporters that help was sought from all the fire stations in the vicinity, including Diamond, the Central Fire Station and West Ruimveldt.
Approximately five fire trucks were on the scene and according to Gentle, foam and water were used to contain the blaze which occurred in a bond behind the pumps.
The bond usually stores lubricants and this he said would have been disastrous. The Fire Chief praised the firefighters whom he said were able to contain the blaze shortly after 21:00 hrs.
