Another Berbician is left homeless after another fire, this one believed to be electrical in nature, completely destroyed a man’s two storey home at lot 145 Second Street, Number 69 Village Corentyne, last night.
The 46-year-old labourer, Baijnauth Baichan told Inews that he was not at home at the time of the incident but he was alerted by his neighbours and upon his return he found his home almost gone.
The fire service was contacted, but the alleged non availability of water which was reportedly occasioned by the dry spells in that particular area proved as a deterrent for the fire fighters in the effective and efficient administration of their duties.
Baichan stated that he is certain he disconnected the electricity from his home before leaving. he surmised that a wire leading to his home may have been faulty since there is nothing in his home that could have led to the blaze.
The man is currently seeking refuge at the home of a friend. Investigations are ongoing. This fire comes on the heels of another that occurred last night, leaving a family of 5 also homeless.
