[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Guyana Police Force says investigations into the alleged rape of a four year-old girl by her father are completed. The toddler was allegedly raped in a mining community in the interior region.
The Force was responding to a newspaper article which stated that the child’s mother was concerned about the lack of follow-through by the police.
Instead the Police stated that when the report of sexual assault was made on February 11, 2015 by the child’s mother, ranks responded by arresting the father the same day. He was subsequently placed on bail on February 13, 2015.
Investigations into the matter were completed and the file was sent to the Chambers of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) on February 18, 2015, for legal advice. It was later returned to the police for further investigations into additional areas that had been identified.
According to the Force, the investigations have since been completed and the file is expected to be re-submitted to the DPP for further advice.
