[www.inewsguyana.com] – National Female Cricketer Akaze Thompson was on Wednesday, March 25 charged with assault when she appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
The 23-year-old female pleaded guilty to the charge which alleged that on March 20 on Regent Street, Georgetown, she unlawfully assaulted Joanna Van Sertima, so as to cause her actual bodily harm.
The Prosecution detailed to the Court that on the day in question around 19:10hrs, Thompson accused Van Sertima of “talking her name.”
It was then that a scuffle ensued between the two with Thompson hitting the virtual complainant several times about her body.
According to Thompson, it [gossip] had reached a saturation point hence she acted out. The cricketer admitted that she assaulted Van Sertima, but pointed out that she was also assaulted during the scuffle.
Magistrate Sewnarine-Beharry ordered the defendant to pay a fine of $25,000. Failure to pay the fine will result in three weeks imprisonment.
oh yeah you big bully……she assaulted you…in the first place u had absolute no right to even confront her for your so called “talk name” it must be true what was said about you. so u dig some serious blows to her and dont expect she will put it back on you..u r nothing but a bully..get help so your criminal brain will function in a peace loving way.
