An accident on the Good Hope public road, East Coast Demerara has resulted in the death of a female driver.
Based on information reaching this publication, the driver, identified as 44-year-old Carlotta James of Middle Walk, Buxton, allegedly slammed her car, PHH 67, into the back of a lorry.
INews understands that the 31-year-old driver of the lorry, GPP 143, who hails from Mahaicony, told investigators that he slowed down and indicated to turn south across the Good Hope road when the car ran into his rear.
The car was reportedly proceeding East along the northern side of the Good Hope road behind the motor Lorry.
Following the accident, James was removed from the vehicle and placed into a police pickup where she was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital and pronounced dead on arrival.
Meanwhile, the driver of the lorry was tested for alcohol but none was reportedly found in his system.
He is presently in police custody as investigations continue.
