[www.inewsguyana.com] – A carpenter and his 17-year-old son were remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry on Friday, January 23 on an unlawful wounding charge.
Matin Saul, of Lot 318 West Ruimveldt, Georgetown and his son, Ayekini Saul, a mason of Lamaha Park, Georgetown, pleaded not guilty with the charge which alleged that on December 24, 2014 at Guyhoc Park, Georgetown they unlawfully wounded Mark Campbell with intent to maim, disfigure, disable or cause him grievous bodily harm.
Police Prosecutor Michael Grant did not present facts in Court but he objected to bail.
Meanwhile, the older Saul told the Court that on the day in question, they had an argument and the virtual complainant (VC) ran into his yard with a cutlass. He said that they pulled away the cutlass and Campbell was chopped on his right hand.
Bail was refused and they will appear in court again on February 6 before Magistrate Dylon Bess.
