[www.inewsguyana.com] – Proprietor of Movie Zone, located in East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, was remanded to prison by Magistrate Fabayo Azore for possession of ecstasy tablet.
Thirty-one-year-old Jason Cummings pleaded not guilty to the offence, which alleged that on Saturday, May 24 at East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, he had in his possession one gram of ecstasy tablet.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Deneshwer Mahindranaught, prosecuting, told the Court that on the night in question, the defendant along with others in a taxi were stopped at a road block, when a search was carried out on his person.
The police allegedly found the prohibited drug in Cummings’ pants pocket.
Attorney – at – Law, Paul Fung –A – Fat represented Cummings and argued that the drug was found on the ground, while the defendant, the driver and three other persons were in the taxi.
Bail was refused and the father of five will return to Court on June 12.
