Police are now hunting two male suspects who shot and robbed a 37-year-old farmer in Greenwich Park, East Bank Essequibo on Tuesday evening.
The injured man has been identified as Kumar Jeffers of Parika, East Bank Essequibo.
Based on reports gathered, Jeffers was in Greenwich Park around 21:50hrs when he was attacked by two armed men.
The bandits reportedly snatched a gold chain from the farmer’s neck and during a brief scuffle, Jeffers received one gunshot wound to his abdomen.
The gunmen then fled the scene in a silver grey Allion which was waiting a short distance away and was reportedly being driven by another individual.
Jeffers was rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital and subsequently transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital where is said to be in a stable condition.
Investigations are ongoing.
