[www.inewsguyana.com] – It has been five days and the parents of 17 – year – old Kareeshma Rampersaud have not seen or heard from her. The parents believe that their eldest child was abducted from their lot 30 Second Street, South Better Hope East Coast Demerara home on the morning of Thursday, September 12.
According to the missing teenager’s mother, Sewmattie Ramjit, at 6:00hrs, on the morning in question, her daughter woke up, showered and ventured into the yard to pick flowers for her prayers (a Hindu Custom) when she disappeared.
The terrified woman explained to iNews that she observed when her daughter ventured outside and in less than five minutes when she peeped through the window, she did not see her. The mother said she checked the yard and observed the prayer plate which her daughter had in her possession, on the ground and the gate was wide open.
The woman said that she immediately alerted her husband, who mounted a search for the teenager, but to no avail. A report was immediately made to the police. The mother explained that her daughter has never run away from home and that the family never had any issues with her.
Meanwhile, the parents have an idea as to who might have abducted their daughter. Ramjit explained that the family recently made a police report about a family friend who stole from them. According to Ramjit, the family friend made several threats to the family.
“Nothing is working. We don’t have any clue. I feel like nothing is going to happen…so many days have passed and I haven’t heard her voice…I’m just worried,” the mother said.
The matter is being dealt with by the Criminal Investigations Department.
